Abstract Paintings
Abstract is the painting that gives you nothing to recognise. No face, no shoreline, no bowl of fruit. Just colour, shape and weight, and whatever you bring to it. People tend to stand in front of one for a while and then say something like: it reminds me of a place, though I could not tell you which.
That is the point, and it is also the difficulty. A figurative painting tells you where it belongs. An abstract one has to be chosen, and choosing is harder than it sounds.
Every piece here is painted by hand on canvas in oil and acrylic, in the colours we keep returning to: deep red, black, ochre, and a blue that goes almost grey. Sizes run from small squares up to large works made for a living room wall.
If you are deciding between two, take the one you would still want to look at on a bad day. That is usually the honest test.
Choosing an abstract painting
Abstract is an awkward thing to buy for a wall, because there is nothing in it to recognise. No face, no shoreline, no bowl of fruit. What you have instead is colour, weight and movement, and a decision you have to make on your own.
Our abstract work is not all one kind of abstract. Some pieces are quiet and geometric, where the shape does the work. Others are loud, where the colour does it. Knowing which one you actually want saves a lot of scrolling.
What counts as an abstract painting?
A painting with nothing in it you can name. The work in this collection is painted by hand in oil and acrylic on canvas, and most of it has no face, place or object in it at all.
How much do these abstract paintings cost?
They start at Rs 4,030 for a Small Rolled 12 by 18 inch canvas and rise with size, up to 48 by 48 inches. The price follows the size of the canvas, not the artwork on it.
What sizes can I choose?
Each painting comes in up to nine size options, from 12 by 18 inches up to 48 by 48 inches, in either rolled or stretched canvas.
Rolled or stretched, which should I pick?
Stretched arrives mounted on a frame and is ready to hang. Rolled travels in a tube, costs less to ship, and is the better choice if you plan to frame it yourself or send it overseas.
How long does a painting take?
Each piece is made to order. If you need it by a particular date, tell us the date first and we will say plainly whether it is achievable rather than promising and hoping.
