Sisters of Saligao Collection

Two sisters, bound by land and sea, by the scent of mango groves and the taste of salt in the air. Their stories are told not in words, but in gazes, gestures, and bowls of fruit ripening under coastal skies.

Mango and Chilli

She lives in the tang of every lime, in the warmth of verandah afternoons and the brightness of fruit piled high in porcelain bowls. She is the flavor of the village, sharp and tender all at once.

Rendered in deep coastal blues, sun-kissed yellows, and warm terracotta, this painting layers bold, flat strokes with intricate linework to create balance between abundance and intimacy. The fruit bowls burst with citrus brightness, contrasted against the sisters’ garments patterned in floral motifs. The brushwork is confident and graphic, blending folk sensibility with a contemporary edge, giving the scene both stillness and vibrancy. Bright, bold, and full of flavor — a portrait of sisterhood steeped in the tang of Goan afternoons.

Artist’s Note

After two years in Goa, I discovered its truest side beyond postcard beaches, in Mapusa markets, the sleepy lanes of Saligao, nets cast in Siolim, and vendors with baskets of mangoes and cucumbers under village bridges.

This is the Goa that inspires me: everyday beauty, rooted people, and fleeting gestures. Sisters of Saligao is born from this quieter Goa, from sisters who share fruit, silence, and dreams of tomorrow.
