Sisters of Saligao
Loka Loka Studio, with its roots in Goa, draws inspiration from the rhythm of everyday village life, verandahs washed in late-afternoon light, bowls of mangoes ripening in courtyards, the tang of lime in the air, and the slow songs of the sea.
“Sisters of Saligao” captures these details through the intimacy of two sisters, one grounded in tradition, the other drawn to the horizon. Their bond is reflected not just in their gazes, but in the spaces they inhabit: the fruit they share, the fields they walk, the skies they dream beneath.
The works are alive with coastal palettes — deep cerulean blues, golden ochres, terracotta reds, and citrus greens — layered with brushstrokes that balance bold planes of color with delicate detailing. Each canvas is a conversation between stillness and movement, rootedness and longing, earth and tide.
This collection is a tribute to Goa itself, not the postcard Goa, but the everyday Goa of mango seasons, salt-scented winds, and stories whispered between sisters in village courtyards.
